Steam Weekend, Sun 16th & Mon 17th July, Scottish Industrial Railway Centre, Patna nr Ayr

Enjoy the thrill of travelling behind one of our restored steam locomotives. Normally, we will make use of our specially converted passenger carrying brakevan to provide visitors with a short trip. However, this year, we also hope to begin to use our recently restored Directors Saloon on certain days. Visit our museum, and view the garden scale model railway in operation. We also have a tea room providing teas, coffee, soft drinks and sandwiches at reasonable prices. Our shop has many items at pocket money prices to suit our younger visitors. Dundonald Highland Games, Sat 5th Aug, Dundonald Castle

Dundonald Highland Games is one of Ayrshire’s premier cultural events. It is unique in capturing traditional Scottish heritage and strong community spirit within the picturesque setting of Royal Dundonald Castle. Admission to the event is completely free and offers a whole range of entertainment and activities including a traditional highland games with pipe band contest, drum majors, solo piping, highland dancing, battle re-enactment, heavy events, side stalls, massed pipe bands display and street parades. Scottish International Airshow, Sat 2nd & Sun 3rd Sept, Ayr

Scotland's biggest outdoor event of the year. The Scottish International Airshow will take place at Ayr on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September. Full 2 day flying programme and massive ground exhibitions, rides and fun family events.
